Of course they will. Youth in baseball is one thing, and a very important thing, BUT, Santana in your rotation is more important. If you already have a "good" team. Mets, Boston, Yankee's, Angles. Adding a reliable arm that will give you 15 wins (minimum) 200 plus innings, and 7 plus per start is irreplaceable.

I has been reported that the Mariners are also the front runner for Jananese pitcher Hiroki Kuroda.

This should be interesting. Santana is just not the best avaliable pitcher this year but the best (arguably) of the past decade. This is a one in a lifetime deal for the team that signs him.

DETROIT / SHORT POST

Gonna be a short post tonight.
I beat the crap out of myself tonight at the gym. My arms feel like the weigh 400 pounds. I set the laptop on the table and i had to rest for two minutes. Driving home as fun. I took the straightest route possible so i did not have to turn the steering wheel. Tomorrow night is leg night and were doing lots, and lots, and lots of squats.

Seattle had throw there hat into the ring for Johan Santana.
This ought to make the Redsox a little nervous.
This should speed things up a little on the negotiation side of the deal.

ROSE AND SUGAR BOWL

Gonna give you my take on as may games as i can
While i am still awake and have an Internet connection. (long story)

Rose Bowl
Illinois vs USC
On paper this should be a laugh er. But do not count out Illinois out. Ron Zook will have his team ready. Ill's defence does not get much by way of publicity but they do a great job in zone and man to man. USC's defence is another story and get plenty of the press. Especially the run they had going down the stretch. There defence is not only ranked behind Ohio State.
Illinois has an advantage though. Juice Williams. The best quarterback name in collage today.
USC will have home field advantage even though they are not playing in there home stadium. And if they do not get there own stadium situation straight they will be next year.
I expect this game to become a complete laugh er and most men in America to start flipping over to the UFC somewhere before halftime. But do not take the game off the recall button. It may just surprise you.

SUGAR BOWL
Georgia vs. Hawaii
Two words and two words only will make or break this game.
Colt Brennan.
Georgia must keep Colt Brennan and the high powered Hawaii offence off the field. Hawaii defence is suspect at best. Can, can, play good games (for those of us who set the alarms for 3am to watch a game, we know.) For Hawaii just getting to this game makes them winners already. They should attract some top flight talent over the next two to three years just because of this appearance.
Georgia on the other hand went to bed one night expecting to play for the national title and woke up playing in the Sugar Bowl. The will be nice, they will be considerate. The coach and the players will tell everyone they are excited to play this game. Blah, Blah, Blah.
But look out when they take the field.
This could get ugly, fast.....
My prediction. Georgia by 7

Other news and highlights tonight.
Not really sure. Spike is running the best fight of 2007 and i have not had the heart to change the channel. Plus it keeps the other half out of my room. (Get out of here and go watch Larry King.).
The only thing i can keeping my eye on over the next few days are the winter meeting. I really, REALLY, want to see where Santana goes now that Cashman and the Yankee's have decided to drop out of the arm's race. (or have they?) If the RedSox do get Santana, Game over.
(I would equate this to the Partiots getting Moss.)

PATS VS RAVENS AND THE BCS CHAMPIONSHIP

This is like Philadelphia all over again.

Kyle Bowler is having a good game. Is every quarterback in the league trying out for a 1st string job when they face the Pats? Baltimore 10 Pats 3 6:34 left in the half and the Pats driving.

Baltimore is all hyped up this game. Ray Lewis during his pre-game warm up looked like he was possessed by Linda Blair.

It's about 25 minutes in the game and they have yet to score a TD.

Brady just got nailed and over threw Moss.

I break in with updates as it goes on.



BCS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

I happen to agree with the fact Ohio State is in the game i only have one problem. They got in the game because they were stagnant for the last 10 days.

I think the SEC was given the benefit of the doubt this year when they put in LSU. The Tigers lost two games this year. BUT the two games too 6 overtimes for them to lose. (Both great games). LSU did not loose a game in regulation. Ohio state's two best wins were Michigan (when they had one foot in the grave) and Wisconsin (coming off a horrible game), LSU won a close game over Florida and just flattened VT.

Both offences are going to come at your defences. both are going to throw, alot! Should be one of the more entertaining games of the season.



BACK TO THE GAME.

About 3 and a half left in the half. the Pats can not hold on the the ball.

Boy Jaws gets really really excited during these games. Tony keeps trying to throw little jabs and jokes to keep thing lively and Mike T. knows every player and every collage team they played on.

Pats punt again. I sure hope when Bellichek goes into the locker room at half time he fixes what ever problem he has.

Did you see Greise in the studio and Shula is in Baltimore at the game?

ESPN has been hyping the pats all year and then they go and invite Greise to the studio and Baltimore probley invited Donnie S. to the gave as an F-U to the Pats.

Think Shula went into the patriots locker room before the game and gave them a pep talk? (That would be like in the movie "Major League" when she came into the locker room and gave them the stats for the previous play off series.)

Don is also going to be in the booth during the 3rd quarter. What possible could he have to say? I'm Don Shula and i am rooting for the Ravens this game because i want to be the only undefeated team and my Dolphins suck?

I had a few Smokes today.
Not alot maybe 4 or 5. I got light headed every time i had one. This sucks. Work got to me a little and i had a half a pack in my car, I just had one tonight and everything is a little fuzzy.

Random thoughts for today.
With 22 days left until Christmas how many sales can Kohl's, J.C Penny and all the other guys come up with? The 7 day before Christmas sales? the one day after the 7 day before Christmas sale?
Is going postal due to the overload of Christmas music a valid defence in a trial if i take someone out for no particular reason?
After taking a dive this morning on the ice, I was laying there wondering if i could move all of my body parts. Once i realized i could i was happy i had Aflak. (But thank god i did not have to use it.)

WOW....
What a power run to start the 3rd quarter for a TD. (I am not liking this.)

Sunday Night

Let's go over the earlier games 1st.
On a sad note the Redskins lost the the Bills. The skins dominated most of the game for the most part but i think the emotion of the game got to them at the end. They started the game as i though they would playing only 10 defensive players in remembrance of Sean Taylor.
By now everyone knows that the 4 men the Dade County Police did arrest did shoot Sean. They were not expecting him to be home at the time they broke into his hose to rob him. The 4 are being charged with some sort of non premeditated murder.

Rams killed the Falcons. (who cares)

Adrian Peterson's Vikings rolled all over the Lions. Viking 42 - Lions 10
- Are the lions reverting back to there old ways? I thought John Kinda had this offence on track? Or was it the rookie of the year Adrian Peterson (who ran all over them) that officially stuck a fork in there season? You want to see the Lions do good (for at least one year) but i think there season is done.

Seahawks vs. Eagles was a pretty good game.
I actually got to see a bit of this on the TV.
I was right about McNabb needing to take the week off the let Feeley stink up the joint for another week. Now no one will question that he is the better QB. McNabbs job is safe. (at least until the draft. Two Words. Colt Breenan.)

The ageless Panthers rolled over the 49ers. (only story here is that Vinnie is still playing football. Didn't he turn 85 this week or something?)

I can not believe the Cardnials beat the Browns (27 to 21)
I had such high hope for the Browns this week. But here we go with the "over the hill gang" QB's ruining the point spreads and fantasy leagues around the country again. (RETIRE YOU SON OF A BITCH!!!!)

(The Jags actually had a great chance to win this game but just could not finish off the colts.)

I watched this game. I watched the whole game. What a cluster F@#$!
Eli did pull out the win but for 3 and a half quarters he looked like the was pulling his PUD. Could not hit a receiver to save his life. Plexico looked like he was playing on one leg for all but his last catch. Shocky did not have a catch in this game (but did have a could great blocks). The Giants offence looked horrible, just horrible. Even in the last two drives. dropping balls, shaking there heads after every play. Thank god i am not a Giants fan. The Bears looked even worse, except for the 1st drive.

Enough of that.
It's raining again in Pittsburgh. (News flash)
So far the field is holding up pretty good but were only10 minutes into the 1st quarter.

I flipped it over the the bowls selection special but we will break down the bowl games tomorrow night and weather i agree or disagree with the selections. Not enough time tonight and i had a long day.

No, I was not watching TV all day.
I went to the gym, ran arrons, got food, got a hair cut and did a few other ME things.

RANDOM THOUGHTS THAT WENT THREW MY MIND TODAY.
There is a gym around every corner of my town and 5 the next town over in all 4 directions. why do i keep running into so many fat people?
People must be paying money to keep these gyms open, right?
Why when a dusting of snow gets on the ground does the speed limit suddenly drop from 40 to 4 mile an hour? Didn't these people grow up in new england? were use to snow remember?
I was in a computer store today and wondered is MAC and PC hang out after they get dome with the TV commercials?

Commercial - Brad Pitt is making a big announcement tomorrow on the today show!!!!
What's next? We find out Britney Spears is pregnant again? (whoops, sorry......)

Speaking of which. When did Britney go from the guy every guy in American wanted to sleep with to the skank, looser no one in the world (except one) would sleep with no matter how much money she paid you? WOW I remember when she became "legal" and you could talk about here openly in a sexual manner. she was the hottest thing since the last hottest thing you were talking about last week. But she stayed on the spotlight, had a few hits.
Honestly. If someone asked you who is the bigger whore, skank right now between Kevin Federline and Spears, Right now you'd have to say Britney.

I'M STILL NOT SMOKING.
I have not killed anyone yet. (but if i did i would not put it on the internet.)
There are some minutes where everything is fine and then there are the flashes of, just other things. Sometimes is being nerviousness, sometims rage. I get tired really quick, then i get mad for no reason. Then there are the times i am driving. All i can say it is a good thing for everyone on the road that i am still making payments on my car. Remember Mel Gibson on MADMAX? Ohhhh Yea. That would be nothing. I would be like a Nascar driver on crack with his helmet on backwards. (sounds like a movie)
We'll see what happens tomorrw when i get back to work.

Friday late night

Suspects arrested.
Police arrest 3 suspects in the Sean Taylor murder investigation.
Good. And i hope they got the right people. Not a lot of details yet (at least from what i have read so far). I really hope thing start panning out in the next few days and we can find out what really happened.

Looks like he will be o.k. and make the start vs the Raiders next week.
Still wish i could have seen the game last night. I talked to one of my buddies who watched the game (and did not Tivo the F-ing thing) and he said it was one of the top 3 game of the year. He started telling me what happened in the 1st quarter and i had to shut him down.
I'll buy the game when i comes out on DVD.
(I'm still pissed about the game not being on t.v.) The NFL is a MULTI BILLION dollar a year industry/sport. WTF? Sons-a-bitches need to charge me another 30 bucks a year to watch 8 games?
(Warning, I be bitching about this till the Superbowl. If Greenbay makes it to the big dance i be pissed even more.)
On to other things.

I quit smoking at 6pm today.
I am really not happy right now. I am 4.5 your removed from a smoke and i want to destroy the 1st person who pisses me off. (Good thing i am at home and everyone in the house is asleep.) I can not wait to go to the gym tomorrow. This is not going to be good it. This will be like the fight i am watching on spike t.v.

I love ultimate fighting.
This is the way fighting was intended. Two men, one cage and a ref to stop the fight when someone accidentally get kicked in the balls. Perfect. They even hat hot looking right girls to tell you what round it is. I know i am being sexist but the withdrawal is killing me right now.

Random things running threw my mind.
- How old is Jennifer Lopez now? She's still hot, and that is taking into consideration she is married to Marc Anthony.
- Why does McDonald's and KFC look so f-ing good on t.v. but when you get it in the car you want to hurl?
- What should i do with the $5 a Day i am saving by not smoking? See, I am looking ahead to not smoking and saving money. that's a good thing, right?

(WOW this sucks. This is almost as bad as when i went to rehab and had to detox from the booze. Think i am having DT's right now. I hope there not as bad as that. I had to be put to sleep for 3 day that time during my time at Rehab.)

- I go to AA meetings, do they have smokers anonymous meetings? And if they do what do they do during the break? During the break we use to go outside and have a smoke. Do they go outside and have a beer? (kidding.)

- I'm getting really punchy right now. I gotta go. I'll probably post again tonight after i wake up in a cold sweet.

NFL "non" night

Cowboys vs. Greenbay.
Most of america is missing a good game.
Last i knew it was Cowboys 27 / Greenbay 17
Farve is out of the game with a elbow injury.
Romo is having a 3 touchdown game.
Arron Rogers has throw a touchdown.
Only 33% of the american households get the NFL package.
The gym i go to did not even have the game on the treadmills. I would have jogged all night if they were playing the game on the TV's.
WTF ?
This is arguable the 2nd biggest game of the season. Why didn't the NFL do something? Probley because 250 thousand people signed up for the NFL network today just to see the game. The NFL could have slapped us in the face even further and put the game on pay-per-view?
That would have been good. I would have paid $9.95 for the game. Do i get a pre-game? Does Jimmy, Terry, and Howie get to do the pre-game?
This f-ing sucks. I am watching the Rutgers game and they keep breaking in with the score. Then telling about Romo's completion persentage. This is like a junkie who has a fix dangeling in front of him and he can not get to it.
I'm sweeting, litterially swetting looking for and waiting for further updates.
I hate this.
I could bitch for the next hour about this but i think i am going to call the NFL network and see if i can get the last 10 minutes of the game.......
