About the state of baseball. Steroids, Bonds, The Comish, 500 homer mark droping like flies in a bond fire (camping reference #1). Cal and Tony played a combined 41 years and barely make the 500 mark combined. Cal was a spotty power hitter with flashes of brilliance. Tony was the ROCK of the Padres. 3 Batting titles.
Sure tony had a little controversy after he retired about his extra marital affairs, and everyone gave Cal some grief about "playing while hurt" but you never head of them "juicing". (There a joke in there about Tony , I just can not bring myself to write it down).

Just came across the wire that Tex will be in Atlanta before long. In exchange for Jarrod Saltalamacchia and reliever Ron Mahay (Mayday Malone?) Between Tex and Salt who need to shorten there name more? Mark will be a good pickup for Atlanta. No one will want to face there line up in post season. The Mets better move on someone or there gonna get smoked as Atlanta is passing by.

On to the weekend.
We camped with the nephews this weekend and i realized why i have not had children. (other than being male)
#1 - The pout constantly.
#2 - They wake up at 6:30am ON A SUNDAY.
I am not a morning person. At my best i am ready at 8ish on Saturday or Sunday after a cup of coffee and a glass of muscle milk. (http://www.musclemilk.com/ for those of you wondering). 1st thing out of there mouth is "Uncle Dave, When we going to the pool?". Now I'm a bit of a smart ass to begin with and some of the responses coming out of my brain are just not right. But i was good. I told them that we would go when i got back from the gym.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
They wanted to go right then. I just spent the last of the night hours with them in the pool and watching the Fantastic 4 before bed. Then after i did not respond they started bombarding me with questions.
We gonna go to the pool when?
Are we going fishing?
When is lunch?
Can we catch bullfrogs?
Can i watch a movie?
I left.
I went to the gym. For 2 and a half hours. And worked out. Intensely. Like a maniac. I'm paying for it this morning. I hurt, alot.
between the pool with the kids, the gym, the 8 smores bars i ate while sitting by the fire, and the mountain bike ride i took in the rain (thunder and lightening) I am struggling.
Where am i going with this?

#2 - for those of you who do not have kids, If you get your nephews or who ever for the weekend and you have one like mine, remember this.
Feed them Jolt and Chocolate before there parents pick them up.
